Beacon Converters Through the Years

1947 — Beacon Bag Company is Founded

Beacon Bag Company is established by grandfather, William F. Daly, Oliver L. Pouliot, and Bill Wehrman.  The founders saw an opportunity to improve food packaging materials in a growing convenience food market. Read more

1947-1970 Beacon Diversifies their Product Line

Beacon produces flat and square bags for the food industry. Some of the products included: outer wrap packaging for ice cream pops, snack foods, Italian bread bags, and liner bags for boxes of pretzels and chips.   Beacon expands product line into healthcare industry with sterilizable flat and square bags.   Read more

1957 — William P. Daly, Joins Beacon

William P. Daly, son of William F. Daly, worked part time at Beacon as a student in various jobs in the plant and joined the company full time in 1957, later becoming company President. Read more

1972 — Beacon Registers with the FDA Class II Device Manufacturer

Beacon registers with the FDA as a Class II device manufacturer and begins production of hospital sterilization pouches.  Purchases Faser Industries, a sterilization pouch company, the following year. Read more

1982 — Jackie Daly Johnson, current President, joins Beacon

The first of the 3rd generation, Jackie Daly Johnson, current President, joins Beacon after graduating from Georgetown University. Read more

1985 – 1987 Beacon Increases Sterilization Pouch Capacity by 80%

Customer demand for sterilization packaging for grew significantly. To best serve these needs, Beacon diversified its product line by adding a header bag machine. In 1987, Beacon purchased the assets of GravureFlex, increasing sterilization pouch capacity by almost 80%. Read more

1988 — Kathleen Daly Mascolo Joins Beacon

Kathleen Daly Mascolo, current Vice President, and Director of Sales & Marketing joins Beacon after graduating from Boston College. Read more

1994 — SPMC formed; William P. Daly is founding Chairman

The Sterilization Packaging Manufacturers Council (SPMC) of the Flexible Packaging Association is formed; William P. Daly is founding Chairman. Read more

1999 — Beacon Launches the Original HDPE Die Cut Card

Recognizing a need to provide a flexible packaging product to protect and organize devices, Beacon launches HDPE die cut cards into the market. Read more

2000 – Beacon Becomes a Woman Owned Business

2003 — Beacon is NJ Certified as Small Business Enterprise

Beacon Converters is certified by the NJ Commerce & Economic Growth Commission as a Small Business Enterprise. Read more

2006 — Beacon Makes Top 500 Women Owned Businesses in U.S.

Beacon Converters, Inc. named to DiversityBusiness.com’s Top 500 Women Owned Businesses in the U.S. and the Top 50 Owned Businesses in the State of NJ. Read more

2007 — Beacon Celebrates its 60th Anniversary

Beacon Celebrates its 60th Anniversary and hosts a Learning & Knowledge Event to foster Customer Education on industry topics including the revision s to ISO 11607: Parts I & II. Read more

2011 — FPA and IoPP Recognize the Die Cut Insert Wallet

Beacon's Die Cut Insert Wallet  Winner of three Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) 2011 Achievement Awards that honor packaging and converting excellence in the flexible packaging industry including the Highest Achievement Award, the Gold Award for Packaging Excellence and the Silver Award for Environmental and Sustainability Achievement. Winner of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) 2011 Ameristar Award that selects the most ground‐breaking and innovative packages of the year. Read more

2014 — Jackie Daly Johnson Receives Growth, Innovation & Leadership Award
