Radiation Sterilization of Packaging Materials

Typically Gamma or Electron Beam: Electron Beam is a sterilization process that utilizes direct current or linear accelerator to emit high energy electrons. Gamma Irradiation is a sterilization process that utilizes a radioactive isotope that emits high energy photons. Both technologies require suitable packaging materials that allow sterilization, protect the device, and not degrade in the process.

Radiation Sterilization Process

  • Ambient Humidity

  • Ambient to Elevated Temperatures

(eBeam products may have significantly elevated temperatures)

  • Requires Radiation Suitable Package Materials

Material Compatibility

  • Gamma and E-Beam Compatible with many Beacon materials

  • Breathable and non-breathable as well as high barrier material options
